During the year, 3,015,976 journeys were made.

From 2016 to 2025, the number of journeys increased from two million to three million.

Passenger numbers have grown especially in the local traffic area in central Joensuu and in the expanded A zone, which includes Lehmo, Reijola and Ylämylly.

– We have added more bus services to these areas. We will continue to increase services as passenger numbers grow. The lines with the highest number of passengers are 2, 1, 101, 4, 3 and 202. On the busiest winter days, about 15,000 journeys are made, Timo adds.

There are also changes in how tickets are purchased.

– The number of tickets bought with contactless payment or mobile apps keeps increasing. However, we think it is important to keep cash as a payment option alongside digital channels, says transport system engineer Rasmus Nousiainen.
