JOJO's New Travel Zones Now in Route Planner and Waltti Mobile

New travel zones have been introduced in Joensuu region public transport (JOJO). There are now four zones instead of the previous eight. The change aims to make it easier to choose a ticket product, making travel simpler.

The new zone boundaries can be viewed in the route planner starting 2 June: Open the route planner. The route planner can also be conveniently accessed through the Waltti Mobile app. It also tells you which ticket you need for your journey when planning your trip.

Save money and change your default zone now

Due to changes in zone boundaries, some passengers will see changes in the number of zones for their trips. Every regular traveller should check whether the number of zones for their journey has changed. Incorrect zone information in your Waltti account may result in overcharging when purchasing a new season ticket or using a value ticket.

The default zone can be changed in your Waltti account. Instructions are available on JOJO’s website: See instructions for changing zones.

The changes particularly affect residents in the Ylämylly and Niittylahti areas, where there are many regular travellers. Passengers in these areas can now travel within zone A instead of the previous A–B. The new, broader zones especially benefit those who make longer regular trips, as ticket prices will decrease significantly with the reduced number of zones.

The Hilja ticket is available every day of the year

With this reform, the use of the Hilja ticket has also changed. The discounted price for the Hilja ticket during quieter hours is valid in zones A and B.

The Hilja ticket costs €2.50 for one-zone trips and €3.50 for two-zone trips. Hilja tickets can be used every day of the year from 9:00 to 13:00 and from 18:00 to 24:00.
