On Monday 1 January 2024, line 3 Mehtimäki-City Centre-Ninivaara-Petäikkölä-Vehkalahti-Penttilä-City Centre-Raatekangas will implement a few minute schedule changes as follows:
* departures from the library to Petäikkölä will be delayed by 5 minutes i.e. xx.00 > xx.05

* departures from the center to Petäikkölä will be delayed by 2 minutes i.e. xx.05 > xx.07

* departures from the center to the library will be brought forward by 2 minutes xx.55 > xx.53.

On Monday 8 January 2024, new services will be introduced on school days on line 7 from Hukanhauta to the city centre at 7.00 a.m. and on line 4 at 7.15 a.m. from the city centre to Onttola.

In JOJO traffic, contactless payment was also introduced in Joensuu-Kontiolahti traffic in early December in Joensuu region public transport in zones A and B in local traffic and on Joensuu-Hammaslahti/Liperi lines 101-104.

The commissioning has progressed so that a contact fee is now also available for Joensuu-Kontiolahti traffic on lines 201,202 and 204.

You will not get a receipt for a trip paid with a contact fee, so changing to a contact fee will not work for Noutopoika or Waltti services of the ELY Centre, if you have paid for your trip on the JOJO lines mentioned above.
After the introduction of contactless payment, it is no longer possible to pay for the charging of Waltti products with a debit card on these buses, because new kind of card reader devices are needed for contactless payment. Cash can still be used to pay for the charging of Waltti products on buses.

The use of contactless payment is especially recommended for cash payers as well as occasional bus users. In addition to the contact fee, the trip can still be paid with a Waltti travel card, mobile app or cash.
With contactless payment, the trip always costs the amount of an adult value ticket trip. There is a travel-specific and daily payment ceiling in connection with the contactless payment.
