On the bus you can pay your journey with cash. To buy a single ticket please make sure you have the exact amount or an amount close to the ticket price at hand, because the driver does  have a limited reserve of change.

You can also download a ticket app on your mobile phone and buy single ticket or daily ticket directly to your mobile phone.

Mobile tickets can be obtained for Waltti traffic from the following applications:

* Waltti Mobile app (time, day and season tickets)

* PayiQ Tickets app (single tickets)

* VR Traveling app (combined travel and single ticket)

* Onnibus.com app (combined travel and single ticket)

The mobile single ticket is more affordable than a single ticket and is well suited for the casual user of public transport. To purchase a mobile season ticket, you need to register and log in to the Waltti Mobile app. You can buy a single or daily pass on your mobile device while you wait at the stop. The ticket is valid as soon as it is ordered. The ticket must be able to be presented to the driver whenever boarding the vehicle. Waltti mobile ticket QR code can be read on the vehicle device of the bus, except for the City zone ticket. The driver registers the City-zone mobile tickets on the bus with the management device manually and checks the validity of the ticket. The passenger must ensure that there is enough power on the phone for the entire journey. A mobile ticket can be used to travel in all Waltti traffic. Check the suitability of a mobile ticket in traffic between Joensuu and Outokumpu in the route guide. On line 401 shifts, Mobile Ticket is not usable as a travel ticket.

The apps are available for free download from the App Store and Google Play app store. Customer prices may vary from different channels when purchasing.

Single ticket is a personal ticket issued to an adult or child by the driver onboard the bus. The ticket price is based on the passenger’s age and number of travel zones. The ticket permits transfers within the zone for 60 min (1 zone ticket), 120 min (2-36zone ticket) and 150 min (7 zones).

Easy way to buy a single ticket is to download a mobile ticket application to your mobile phone. It is free of charge and easy to use. The mobile ticket must be purchased in advance and presented to the driver when you step onto the bus.

If you travel outside of rush hour, you can use cheaper Hilja tickets (only for zones City, A and B). They are valid on Monday to Friday 10 a.m. – 2 p.m. and  6 p.m. - 12 a.m., Saturday and Sunday all day. On midweek holidays Hilja tickets are valid 10 a.m.- 2 p.m. and 6 p.m. - 12 a.m.

You can pay your Hilja ticket with cash, with mobile ticket or by Waltti-card.

Day ticket comprises an unlimited number of trips in Waltti zone areas.

Day ticket is valid for 24 hours. You can buy a Day ticket at Carelicum service point where it is loaded on a specific card and it is valid from the first use.

Day tickets purchased at Waltti Ticket machine are printed on paper and they are valid from the moment of purchase.

You can load any value on your Waltti card up to 500 euros and use it to pay for occasional trips. The value does not expire and can be used as long as there is any left on the card.

The travel zones you use regularly are loaded on your value card in advance. If you use your card outside the selected zones, you must inform the bus driver when you step onto the bus.

Value ticket is valid in all Waltti transport regions in Finland. Please check the prices and benefits from the website of the regional public transport of your destination.

Value ticket permits transfers within the zone for 60 min (1 zone ticket), 120 min (2-6 zone ticket) and 150 min (7 zone ticket).

A 30 day valid season ticket to a Waltti card or travel account is the most affordable option for a frequent traveler. A season ticket can be purchased for an adult (over 25 years), a young person (17-24 years) or a child (7-16 years). Students have their own season ticket products.

Season ticket with Waltti card

The period of validity of the season ticket starts from the first time of use. The card may have two season tickets at the same time, one of which must have been enabled before the second season was loaded. The pending season is activated after the end of the previous season from the next card reading on the bus.

In addition to the season ticket, the card also has a value ticket option. By default, the season ticket is validated primarily when displaying the card to the reader. A season ticket can be pre-loaded, starting the season from the first time of use.

Season ticket Waltti Mobile

To purchase a mobile season ticket, you need to register and log in to the Waltti Mobile app. If you are logged into the app, you can see a season ticket by logging out of the app and logging in again. The season ticket is available for purchase on the Buy Ticket page under the Season Ticket tab. The validity period of the mobile season ticket starts immediately from the moment of purchase of the ticket.

On routes between Joensuu and Outokumpu (route guide line 401) a season ticket in Waltti Mobile is not valid as a travel ticket.

Student ticket

Within the Joensuu region public transport (JOJO), over 25-year-old students are eligible for a discount on tickets loaded onto Waltti card. Students, aged 24 and younger, may travel with the Youth ticket. In order to receive the discount, you will need a personal Waltti card. You can choose the ticket product you want to load onto the card (currently available: Season and Prepaid). You can use your Waltti card to pay for public transport on all buses marked with Waltt logos.

You must buy your first ticket at Carelicum service point. You need a certificate of studies not older than two months or a student card with a valid academic year sticker on it. After that you can load the student ticket on your card online or on the bus during the period of validity of the card.

Student discount is granted for a maximum of one year at a time and remains valid until end of September the following year.

A student ticket can be loaded on personal Waltti travel cards only.

School travel card supported by Kela

Kela’s school transport subsidy provides compensation for the daily cost of travelling to and from school if you attend upper secondary school. You are eligible for school transport subsidy if Your travel distance to school is at least 7 kilometres one way.

• A veteran of Finnish wars
• A person accompanying a person with disability EU disability card. The person with disability pays a normal fare.

Ticket fares 1.5.2023 -

If you travel by bus regularly, Waltti card is the cheapest and easiest way to pay. Waltti card can be used in two ways: you can purchase value or season on your Waltti card. Value ticket is used for occasional trips and season ticket allows you to travel as often as you wish within the selected zone for 30 days. More information in Waltti website.

A personal travel card can be used by the owner of the card only. The owner can, however, use the value loaded on the card to pay for several persons who belong to the same, or younger, age group provided that he or she travels with them throughout the journey. And do not worry if you lose your card. The products loaded on it can be transferred to a new card.

A multi-user travel card can be used by several people belonging to the same age group. When you use the card as a value card, you can pay for the journey of several people. A season card can only be used by one person at a time. Please take care of your card, as it is equal to cash. If you lose your card, the value cannot be recovered and returned to you.

By using the Waltti Card Reader application you can check the validity of your Waltti travel card or disposable card.

The Waltti application is free and can be downloaded from the Google Play Store. The application works on Android phones and tablets that are equipped with the NFC. The Waltti card reader displays the current season tickets, remaining value, latest value ticket, and previous tickets when you place your NFC phone against the card. You receive a receipt of your latest value ticket by sending the ticket details to your email.
